Day 1: Broome to
Fitzroy Crossing (L, D)
This morning we head north and cross the mighty
Fitzroy River, before arriving
at Fitzroy Crossing. Travel to Geikie Gorge
for lunch before joining the National Park Ranger for a fascinating cruise
through Geikie Gorge. See crocodiles and other native animals. Then drive to the
Fitzroy River Lodge for our overnight stay. Tonight get to know your fellow
travellers while enjoying a campfire barbecue dinner prepared by your
driver/guide. BBQ Dinner & Overnight: Fitzroy River Lodge (furnished
safari cabins, ensuite)Note: 24 June & 19 August depatures may stay in
budget rooms.
Day 2: Fitzroy
Crossing to Bungle Bungle Ranges (B, L, D)
Today we pass through Halls
Creek and make a brief stop at China Wall. Continue to the
Purnululu National
Park, recently listed as a World Heritage site and home to the Bungle Bungle
Ranges. This afternoon visit stunning Echidna Chasm, known for its towering
Livistonia Palms. Settle into our safari camp for the night, located in the
heart of this World Heritage wilderness. Dinner & Overnight: Bungle
Bungle Bushcamp (safari tents, share bathroom facilities) Note: 24 June
departure will stay at All Seasons Kununurra and itinerary is in alternative
format.
Day 3: Bungle
Bungles to Kununurra (B, L)
Travel to the natural
amphitheatre setting of Cathedral Gorge, make sure to try out the amazing
acoustics within this gorge. Here you can join one of the below scenic flight
options (extra cost): Scenic Helicopter Flight (Bungles to Bungles) - Experience
the thrill of taking off in a helicopter and flying over the Bungles with views
into incredible ravines and gorges below. This flight is not to be missed and
returns to the Bungles airstrip where you rejoin the group to take the
adventurous journey along the Bungles track to Kununurra. Minimum 2 passengers,
approximately $265 pp, reservations are accepted while on tour. Scenic
Fixed-Wing Flight (Bungles to Kununurra) - Those who do not want to travel back
over the rugged road from the Bungles to Kununurra can take the scenic
fixed-wing option. You will be met by a light aircraft at the Bungle Bungles
airstrip for aerial sightseeing of the Bungle Bungles, Argyle Diamond Mine, Ord
River and massive Lake Argyle before you land in Kununurra. Enjoy free time to
explore the town of Kununurra before meeting up with your tour group later that
afternoon. Minimum 2 passengers, approximately $285 pp, reservations are
recommended at time of booking your 8 day tour and also accepted while on tour.
Overnight: All Seasons Kununurra or similar (motel room,
ensuite)

Day 4: Kununurra
to Voyages El Questro Wilderness Park (B, L, D)
Join a cruise from
Kununurra up the Ord River to Lake Argyle; Head back to Kununurra we visit the
Ord River Irrigation Scheme plantations and Ivanhoe Crossing, before we set off
down the famous 'Gibb River Road' to Voyages El Questro Wilderness Park. Enjoy
optional activities (arranged by your guide) such as hike to Emma Gorge
(strenuous) or Chamberlain Gorge Cruise. Dinner & Overnight: El Questro
Wilderness Park, Emma Gorge (Deluxe tented cabin, ensuite)
Day 5: El
Questro to Home Valley Station (B, L, D)
This morning we visit the
Zebedee Hot Springs, bring your bathers and soak in the thermal springs. Pass
through the Pentecost Ranges, arriving at Home Valley Station (cattle
station/farm) for lunch and our overnight stay in the Grass Castles ideally
located at the foot of the spectacular Cockburn Range and is bordered by the
mighty Pentecost and Durack Rivers. This afternoon is free to relax or explore,
otherwise you may like to join one of the stations activities. Dinner &
Overnight: Home Valley Station, Grass Cattle (Deluxe tented cabin,
ensuite)
Day 6: Home
Valley Station to Mount Elizabeth Station (B, L, D)
This morning enjoy a
special Indigenous art experience as one of the Home Valley Rangers show us some
of the station's Aboriginal art sites. Afterwards, travel to Mount Elizabeth
Station (cattle station/farm) for our overnight stay. Arriving after lunch we
have the opportunity to join a tour of the station settlement and learn about
remote cattle station life in the Kimberley. Dinner & Overnight: Mount
Elizabeth Station (share bathroom facilities)
Day 7: Mount
Elizabeth Station to Mount Hart Wilderness Lodge (B, L, D)
Today enjoy a
hike and swim at Galvans Gorge. Then stop at Imintji for lunch, with the option
to join a scenic helicopter flight over Bell Gorge and the ancient King Leopold
Ranges (own expense). Travel into the King Leopold Conservation Park to Mount
Hart Wilderness Lodge for our overnight stay. Settle into the beautiful
surroundings of what was once a cattle station. Dinner & Overnight: Mount
Hart Wilderness Lodge (share bathroom facilities)
Day 8: Mount Hart, Mitchell
Plateau, Kimberley Quest II (B, L, D)
Your light aircraft will
arrive at Mount Hart airstrip early this morning to take you on a spectacular
scenic flight transfer to Mitchell Plateau, see the Horizontal Waterfalls in the
Buccaneer Archipelago, Doubtful Bay, Mt Trafalgar and circuit the mighty
Mitchell Falls. Upon landing at the Mitchell Plateau airstrip a helicopter
awaits you for a 40 minute thrilling helicopter flight over the Mitchell Falls
and Hunter River, to land aboard the Kimberley Quest II for a seven night cruise
down the awe-inspiring Kimberley coastline with Pearl Sea Coastal
Cruises.
Day 9: Careening
Bay, Prince Regent River, King Cascade (B, L, D)
We visit Careening Bay,
where the vessel HMC "Mermaid" was careened for repairs and subsequently carved
the name into a boab tree (easy walk).Cruise through St George Basin, past
mighty Mount Trafalgar, before entering the Prince Regent River. Climb above the
King Cascade waterfalls for a memorable swim in a series of crystal-clear rock
pools (medium climb/walk).
Day 10: Prince
Regent River, Camp Creek, Hanover Bay (B, L, D)
In the morning try your hand
at fishing for barramundi in the many side creeks. In the afternoon we take a
tender to Camp Creek, a beautiful tributary of the Prince Regent lined with
beautiful paperbarks. Enjoy a delightful walk (medium level walk) to the base of
the falls for another memorable swim or go board watching along the tree lined
banks of this pretty water course. Later we cruise out of the Prince Regent
River through impressive whirlpools to anchor in Hanover Bay.
Day 11: Camden
Harbour, Kuri Bay, Deception Bay (B, L, D)
This morning we visit Camden
Harbour, scene of a 19th century sheep farming fiasco by early Victorian
settlers. In this rugged setting and harsh climate, the settlement failed
miserably and was abandoned after less than two years and much tragedy (easy
walk). We then cruise between Augustus Island and the mainland before passing
the remote settlement of Kuri Bay. In the afternoon, try fishing worth our
knowledgeable crew at Deception Bay. Join one of the tenders for a spot of
exploration or laze about the sundeck and take in the beautiful
scenery.
Day 12: Raft
Point, Doubtful Bay, Sale River (B, L, D)
On the western side of
Doubtful Bay is Raft Point, a spectacular sandstone bluff that is an important
site for Aboriginal people. An impressive Wandjina art site lies here amongst a
backdrop of Steep Island and surrounds. Later we cruise across Doubtful Bay to
explore the Sale River, winding its way through rugged narrow gorges with
towering sandstone cliffs. Take a tender excursion upstream and disembark to
walk amid an ancient patch of rich monsoonal rainforest glades. Admire the cool
surroundings and take a dip in the spring fed rainforest pools before returning
to the vessel (easy level walk).
Day 13:
Montgomery Reef, Talbot Bay (B, L, D)
Today we cruise to the
amazing Montgomery Reef. An immense lime and sandstone reef system. It is
Australia's largest inshore reef system. Watch as the tide falls right before
your eyes, creating a waterfall effect as the reef rises out of the water.
Magical lagoons are created as the tide drops, which are rich in marine life,
including dugongs, turtles, manta rays and many species of sea birds. We cruise
across to Talbot Bay, home to the magnificent Horizontal Waterfalls. The regions
massive 10 metre tides create a unique spectacle, sending volumes of sea water
pouring through two narrow chasms in the land formation.
Day 14: Yampi
Sound, Cape Leveque (B, L, D)
This morning enjoy a
leisurely breakfast, whilst cruising through the spectacular islands of the
Buccaneer Archipelago into the sheltered Yampi Sound. We stop to explore
Crocodile Creek, where there is a pretty waterfall with a lovely freshwater
swimming hole above (easy walk/climb).Further exploration takes us past Cockatoo
Island, once mined by BHP for it's rich reserves of iron ore. Cruise across King
Sound, passing the cliff-top lighthouse of Cape Leveque around sunset, as we
journey overnight to the historic pearling settlement of Broome.
Day 15: Broome
(B)
Arrive into the Port of Broome at
approximately 7.00am. Enjoy your last sumptuous breakfast onboard; then wave
goodbye to the crew of the "Kimberley Quest II". Disembarkation is at
approximately 8.00am, where a courtesy vehicle will transfer you to your
accommodation or airport.
